I love dirty color, color that has life to it. Resonant color drives his work, gathering under its lead design, line and form. Overt, deliberate brush-stroke follows at close pace. The distinctions between music and instrument, between instrument and instrumentalist vanish.
Cliff has great affection for southern culture and imagery. He lives in Brandon with his wife Tanya, kids and Angel the dog. He comes to painting from a background in graphic design and has been painting professionally for 10 years. His art has appeared in galleries and exhibits in New York, Los Angeles, Jackson, Tupelo and New Orleans.
Cliff’s work showcases instruments and musicians and explores a merging of musicality and painting. The paintings possess their own kind of rhythm in the color choices and use of sinuous line. Cliff engages in a conversation of sorts between music and art.
